Children learn better by doing - through experimentation. This experimentation provides the experience which they will then seek to apply to different situations, i.e., they will explore newer frontiers where the conceptual learning derived from their experience can be applied. When they are able to apply their knowledge, their learning becomes effective. And if they do not find adequate answers, they will again get into the next level - to experiment, experience and explore.

Learning by Doing

Discover is a unique platform where children learn by doing - they are given additional opportunities to experiment, on topics that they read/discuss in their classrooms. Created for students in Classes V-VIII, Discover inspires the next level of learning - the practical way.

This is the way children learn best. This is the way deeper involvement of the child can be created. Such a process enables conceptual clarity, and a stronger foundation for higher learning. More importantly, such a process builds the child’s scientific temper and a structured approach to problem solving, which is the true scientific process.

At Discover, children are taught to address problems, by following the classical scientific process.

Discover is an activity-based experiential learning program. Most of the time, the students are involved in learning the practical way. They will work in small-sized batches with the facilitators providing inputs wherever necessary. Discover makes learning fun and adds to the students’ interest through interesting communication tools like video demonstrations and footage of interesting events, audio-visual and multimedia presentations.

Applying the Learning

Learning becomes complete when the students are able to apply known concepts to solve unfamiliar problems. There will be challenges aplenty. Curiosity is aroused in the students when they discover newer ways of looking at problems. This is how non-linear thinking is initiated into the students.

Subjects Covered

Students participating in Discover program, will delve deeper in the core subjects of sciences and mathematics. The program provides for around 100 hours of interactive sessions per year. Supports Classroom Learning

Discover is designed to support the teacher’s effectiveness in student learning. The sequence of the topics covered in the different subjects will be as per the Board syllabi. What the student learns at Discover, will be an extension of what has been learnt at school. The student’s conceptual learning is further strengthened by experimentation and further application of the concepts. Improving Soft Skills

Students will work in teams. Hence they will learn how to work in team situations, communicate with other members and how to use creativity in problem solving. Moreover, Discover enables learning without competitive pressure - there is no grading system.
