Why children need life skills

Look at life from a growing child’s perspective. Does it possess life skills?

Can the child think clearly, with purpose?

Does the child have the tendency to be imaginative and creative?

How well does the child relate to people around?

And does the child have a healthy attitude and grounding in values?

These in essence, are the life skills that a growing child needs to manage himself/herself. These life skills need to be nurtured from an early phase in life, so that the children are ready for the challenges of a changing world.

Because life can be normal. And it can throw up surprises as well - some small surprises, and some big surprises. Is the child nurtured how to handle these surprises, effectively?

Give the children of your school life skills from early on, with ...

N Skill: Life skills to manage better

N Skill is a unique initiative that is focused on nurturing life skills in the formative stages of children. N Skill’s goal is to help children manage themselves effectively. It is with this nurtured ability that a growing child ultimately acquires self-confidence. The child will believe in himself/herself. It is this self-belief that will make them winners, in life.

N Skill’s mission is to build tomorrow's achievers. N Skill has already benefitted students for over 8 years.

What N Skill offers

Again, let’s us look at what the child needs? To begin with, it needs thinking skills, in order to do problem solving. Next, it needs imagination and creativity to accomplish more difficult tasks. Thirdly, relationships. Since the child has to interact with a circle of relatives, friends, and other people outside, the child needs communication skills. And lastly, the child needs the right attitude and nurtured values.

So, in essence there are a few skills the child needs to make the best of its potential and a few skills to manage the outside environment. And the child needs a well balanced set of skills to manage these challenges effectively, which are:

      Structured Thinking
      Beyond Structure
      Communication
      Attitudes & Values

How they learn

As a behavioural development program, N Skill follows a proven methodology. It sensitizes the child to the situation and helps to cope with it. Next, the child is encouraged to understand the experience he/she has acquired from the situation. And after this, the child learns either by looking back on his/her experience or through exchange of other children’s experiences.

Activities-based learning. No teaching.

The program comprises of activities which are facilitated through different techniques like role-play, mind-mapping, brain storming, debate, group discussion, etc., which makes learning fun-filled and effective. Children learn the value of virtues like empathy, because during case studies and role-plays, they live for a brief period a range of characters. And through these characters, they become aware of the rational and emotional sides of human relationships.

N Skill: For Class V-VIII students

N Skill courses will be offered for children studying in Classes V-VIII. The course is divided into 4 parts and is graded. Each part has 22 sessions of 2 hours each. Ideally, a session is to be held every week.

To initiate N Skill in your school ...

These are some of the role play situations that students involve in:

You have holidays for the next fortnight. How would you use your
time? What would be your schedule?

What if for a day all of us can't see the blue colour?

For your school day, your best friends in your class are selected to
