If you are considering exciting career options in engineering, medicine or pure sciences… in today’s competitive world, it is important to build the foundation – NOW! More over, when you start from Class VIII, you can understand the basics of science and mathematics in a more lucid way and in an unhurried manner. The benefits can be seen through excellent performance in:
– Class X Board exams
– +2 level Board exams
– Rigorous competitive exams like JEE, AIPMT and SAT
Foundation SnT: Enabling Conceptual Clarity & Problem Solving
For students of Class VIII-X, Foundation SnT at BASE is a 3-year value-add program. It also offers complete training towards competitive examinations like NTSE, Olympiads, KVPY, etc.
Future is Bright, if Fundas are Right
If you are considering exciting career options in engineering, medicine or puresciences… in today’s competitive world, it is important to build the foundation – NOW!
Only a proper foundation can enable conceptual clarity of core subjects and problem solving abilities across applications. This foundation can be the base on which students can build success in board exams and competitive examinations like JEE, AIPMT and CET.
Start Early – from Class VIIIFoundation SnT: Enabling Conceptual Clarity & Problem Solving
The new Foundation SnT at BASE is a 3-year value-add program for students of Class VIII-X. Program objectives include:
Strengthen basics in science & maths
Support the regular studies by imparting additional inputs in core subjects
Provide complete support for board exams
Enhance learning skills – like observation, comprehension, analytical and mathematical reasoning
Provide advanced training for competitive exams by inculcating analytical thinking and problem solving skills
The program also offers complete training towards competitive examinations like NTSE, Olympiads, KVPY, etc
Subjects taught include Mental Abilities, Science (Physics, Chemistry and Biology) and Mathematics. In addition, relevant techniques in basic mathematical skills are introduced.
The curriculum has been designed for Karnataka State Board, ICSE and CBSE separately. In fact, student batches will be formed based on the respective boards.
Enhanced courseware, tutorial worksheets and materials on learning skills will be provided for all subjects. They contain adequate worked examples and practice exercises.
Online Learning Platform
BASE online academic support will include: online tests, online additional work sessions, synopsis solutions, discussion forum.
Option to have courseware as online e-book will be available. Online services will be available both on computers and Android-based tablets. Students and parents will be provided a unique ID and password, to access reports on attendance and performance.
The program will enable students in concept formation acquiring problem solving skills, and establishing connectivity to other subjects To achieve these, we use:
Starters ( to arouse curiosity through questions, videos, demos…)
Multimediabased interactions Posers (Thought provoking questions) which take them
beyond the concept, and Links to additional resources
The training schedule is designed for convenience: on weekdays during summer vacation and on weekends when the schools reopen. The total interaction time during the 3-year program is approximately 480 hours plus 100 hours of online interaction.
Aligned to Board Curriculum
Foundation SnT is aligned to the board curriculum. Board support materials are specially designed to help students perform better. Over the last couple of years, toppers across boards have been Foundation SnT
students. Foundation SnT students have also excelledin exams like PSAs and other skill tests.
Periodic tests will be conducted to evaluate learning and a detailed performance analysis is given to help the student identify his/her strengths and weaknesses and work on them.
To excel in board exams, there will be:
– Practice tests
– 2 board type exams in August & January before school SAs
– Periodic online tests
To facilitate self-learning, seminars will be conducted all through the year. These sessions will be handled by students in small groups of 4 or 5.
“Funda Champs” is an annual competitive event, wherein selected students will, in team situations, work towards solving problems of unusual complexities.
Scholarships will be awarded to students who excel in the Foundation SnT program and later pursue training programs
at BASE at +2 level.
Additional challenging exercises will be created at par with NTSE, KVPY and Olympiads standards to be given as incentives to deserving students.
Admission to the program is based on a selection test that will evaluate the student’s knowledge, understanding, observation, comprehension, analytical reasoning and numerical skills.
NTSE (National Talent Search Examination) is conducted for students studying in Class X by NCERT to identify talented students. Those pursuing professional courses such as engineering, medicine, management and law are eligible to receive financial assistance up to the Master’s degree level. The examination is conducted at 2 levels,
i.e., State and National. NTSE is now conducted at X Standard level.
State Level (November 2015)
Paper I General mental abilities (50 questions)
Paper II Scholastic aptitude test – A English (40 questions)
Paper III Scholastic aptitude test – B
(90 questions: Science – 35 , Social Science – 35, Mathematics – 20)
Students who clear the State Level exam can take up National Level exam, which is based on a similar pattern
Olympiads are internationally recognized competitions in various fields of knowledge. They are the highest level examinations and are hosted by different countries every year. Participation in any of the Olympiads has worldwide recognition and is considered as a great achievement. International Olympiads are held every year in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Astronomy and Junior Science.
Olympiads are conducted at the national level by prestigious institutes like NBHM,IAPT, HBCSE, etc.
